I was born on Groundhog Day; February 2, 1986. Both my parents are Wisconsinites, and while Wisconsin holds a special place in my heart, I am a North Carolina girl at heart. I have lived in Raleigh since birth, and I love my city, as well as the mountains, the coast, and everything in between. 

For as long as I can remember, reading, music, history, and geography have been important parts of my life. I was fortunate to grow up with parents who recognized and encouraged these interests from an early age. That early foundation helped foster a lifelong love of learning that has remained with me into adulthood.

My love of writing developed a little later. When I was in middle school, I had a friend who was an excellent writer, and seeing their talent inspired me to try writing for myself. At the age of thirteen, I began keeping a diary, discovering how satisfying it could be to put my thoughts, experiences, and observations into words. Around the same time, I began experimenting with stories and poetry. What started as a new creative outlet gradually became one of the most important interests in my life.

Over the years, writing has remained my favorite hobby.  Writing allows me to exercise my imagination while also drawing upon many of the subjects that have fascinated me since childhood. My interests in literature, history, geography, and music often find their way into the things I write, whether directly or simply as inspiration. I still enjoy reading extensively, learning about history and geography, and listening to music. These interests have continued to enrich my life and provide me with an endless source of ideas.

My professional life followed a path that also has deep roots in my family. When I am not reading, researching, listening to music, or writing, I work full time as a massage therapist. My paternal grandmother was a massage therapist, and from a young age I admired what she did. Because of her influence, I grew up knowing that I wanted to follow in her footsteps someday. It is particularly meaningful to me that the profession I chose connects me to someone in my family whom I admired.

I received my massage therapy training from Gwinnett College, and an Associate of Arts degree from Wake Technical Community College.

I have been blessed with a large extended family, as well as a fantastic husband, six cats, and a home in a lovely Raleigh neighborhood.
